Session 7: Narrative Arc and the God of the Old Testament
How can we make coherent sense of the God we encounter in the Old Testament in comparison to the Jesus we encounter in the New Testament?
Session 8: The Covenant Faith of Jesus
Session 9: The Messiah Comes and Dies
The Messiah came to heal people of their brokenness. He lived as a humble Man of Sorrows and taught of love to the nth degree. Then He lived out that love when He carried the cross that belonged to humanity and died a sinner’s death at Calvary, breathing new life into us through His faith in us.
Lunch
Session 10: Receiving the Story
Jesus describes the storyline of salvation as a seed. But why is it often difficult for God’s story to take root and produce the change it promises? In Matthew 13, Jesus defines the condition of our hearts as the primary predictor of our spiritual fruitfulness. We will explore how cultivating a practical theology of the heart creates the conditions needed for God’s story to bear fruit in our lives and those around us.
Session 11: Building Community
After Jesus left, He gave His disciples the charge to continue His ministry. They were to nurture the growing community of Jesus followers in the same ways that He had nurtured them. This presentation explores the great commission and what it would look like if today’s church acted on the call to preach the gospel.
